Tableau ONE

Tableau ONE — I’d envisioned my Nana arriving in LA, staying in the apartment of ‘friends’ — you know, like you do at 23-26-ish, you  think people are your friends who would just as soon “turn around quick and start to run” (CUE: BLACK SABBATH song)

She arrives

Big dreams

Sleeps on air mattress — there’s that classic skinny LA kitchen, shabby chic shared bathroom — the dubious friend-couple shares a bed in the back room which opens back into a courtyard (which is where the VIE sa VIE homage gets cut as close to frame by frame with the running — probably up by Ivar somewhere) — and we initiate her into the life of L.A.

STAGES:

  1. SEDUCTION
  2. YOU THINK YOU HAVE SOMETHING THIS TOWN CAN USE, WANTS OR PLAN TO CONQUER IN SOME WAY, BUT YOUR EGO IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ‘BROADWAY’ TRIBE – MORE ON THAT;
  3. GETS FIRST GIG, EASY, MAKES SOME CASH
  4. ALL THE RIGHT PARTIES
  5. THEN, THE WRONG ONE, THE RUFFI-INCIDENT, THE DARK PRINCE INTRODUCED
  6. THE DISAPPEARING ACT (FINDS OUT PEOPLE ARE NOT WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE)
  7. QUICK AND HARD DESCENT
  8. BUOYED BY QUESTIONABLE CHARACTERS AND
  9. BASIC ‘COMPANY TOWN’ MONTAGE OF JOBS–THAT WILL BE TRICKY — BECAUSE IT’S KIND OF IMPORTANT (but can end up being cliche)
  10. The Photographer
